Futureskills Scotland User Survey Results 2007

Date: 15/6/2007

Futureskills Scotland carries out an annual user survey, to gather feedback on its activities and to help set its future workplan. In 2007, the survey was completed by around 150 respondents from a wide range of stakeholders. Feedback from respondents was overwhelmingly positive and encouraging.

• Futureskills’ outputs are used for a variety of reasons, but mainly to inform organisational strategy or as a source of contextual information.
• Many of Futureskills’ core reports are considered useful by more than 80 per cent of users.
• Futureskills Scotland’s events are well attended and well received by users.
• Whilst recognising Futureskills’ limited resources, many users would like Futureskills to develop its research agenda and communication activities.
• There is little, if anything, which users consider that Futureskills should stop doing. Clarity around the detailed sectoral and local work which can be expected from Futureskills would be welcomed.

During the 2007-09 period we will:

• continue to deliver our main reports into the Scottish labour market, maintain a strong website presence and run a series of Expert Briefings;
• refresh our Key Indicators and Research Online service, to provide improved access to labour market information and intelligence for users;
• produce sectoral output in accordance with the Futureskills/Skills for Business Network concordat, leaving more detailed sectoral analysis to other bodies such as the Sector Skills Councils;
• provide information, data and tools to support more detailed local analyses by our colleagues in the Enterprise Networks and their local partners;
• work with stakeholders to determine which research priorities will be delivered during the period; and
• improve our communication and dissemination activities.

Progress on these actions will be reported back through our Annual Report.
