Labour Market Statistics, Scotland - August 2007

Labour Force Survey data for Scotland indicate that the trend in the employment rate is increasing, and the rate in the latest period is significantly higher than a year ago. The trend in the unemployment rate is decreasing, and the rate in the latest period is significantly lower than a year ago.

Data for the three months to June 2007 show the seasonally adjusted employment rate at 77.2 per cent, up 2.3 percentage points on a year earlier. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.5 per cent, down 0.9 percentage points on a year earlier.

The claimant count was down in the year to July 2006.
