Futureskills Scotland Industry Profile: Aquaculture and Fisheries in the Highlands and Islands 2006

Aquaculture and Fishing

  • There are 2,700 jobs in the aquaculture and fishing sector in the Highlands and Islands, worth £457 million
  • The total number of jobs have declined, but the value of the sector in the Highlands and Islands has be relatively stable
  • The sector has a male dominated workforce, with little part-time work
