The engineering, technology and science sector includes: computer related activity; IT services and consultancy; scientific research and development; architectural and engineering activities; urban planning; quantity surveying; consulting engineering services and other technical testing and analysis. Some key facts from the profiles are:

  • There are 4,000 jobs in the engineering, technology and science sector in the Highlands and Islands, worth £400 million
  • Wages are 35% above the all-industry average for the Highlands and Islands
  • The sector has above average incidence of skill shortage vacancies
