Futureskills Scotland industry Profile: Health in the Highlands and Islands 2006

Healthcare

The healthcare sector includes public and private hospital activities, NHS Trusts, medical and dental practices, nursing homes and other human health activities. It does not include animal healthcare or social work. Some key facts from the profiles are:

  • There are 20,500 jobs in the healthcare sector in the Highlands and Islands
  • Employers have below average difficulty filling jobs
  • Wages in the healthcare sector are 3% above the average for all industries in Scotland
